Directions: With a small group of colleagues that teach the same content, explore the lesson builder and begin designing a UDL lesson.
  1. Sign up for a free account on http://lessonbuilder.cast.org/
  2. Begin by exploring a model UDL lesson plan.
  3. Choose a concept that is difficult to learn or teach.
  4. With your group, write the lesson overview, unit description, lesson description, and standards covered.
  5. Write unit goals and lesson goals for student learning.
  6. Design your lesson including an anticipatory set, introduction and modeling of new knowledge, guided practice, independent practice, and wrap up. The lesson should include ongoing formative assessment throughout the lesson, as well as a summative assessment.
  7. Include any materials that you may use to engage learners in the lesson.
